Laguna dam and mittry lake : Apparently this structure was actually the headworks for canals fed from the first dam on the colorado. The dam itself is much harder to see, but on this trip I finally found a place to view it well from the eastern side. These are both JPG and default RAW versions - with a few final versions as I find time to make them.

You know what...this upload is a total mess. I need to do it over. So not much to see here yet.

First try with Amy's Rolleicord : I finally got to try a roll of film in Amy's grandfathers old Rolleicord. The camera is older than both me and Amy put together. She had done a roll in it previously - but we didn't know how to work the film counter and tried to use the red filter to just read the back of the film paper. But alas - that just resulted in lots of fog on the film. Her shots were also pretty overexposed and we weren't sure if it was the shutter, her metering, or the confusing selection of F-stops and shutterspeeds on the Rollei. (It jumps from f/11 to f/22 with no f/16 for example.) The shutter may be just a bit slow...but over all it looks like the camera works great! Can't wait to try and print some of these.

New darkroom round two : This was a roll of FP4 that expired in 2005, Amy had bought it in Yosemite when we were there for Matt and Roxannes wedding. It's been in the fridge ever since so we gave it a few days to warm up and I shot a roll in my Lubitel while she shot a test roll in her grandfathers Rollei. This was my roll from that. I was a little concerned about our ID-11 developer as it had turned somewhat dark...but it had only been used to do 2 rolls of 120 and a roll of 35mm and stored in a full container so it should still have decent life left. Oddly the frame numbers and side printing are barely visible. The older roll that hadn't been stored as well had much more visible frame numbers.

Return to the Darkroom : We finally got a camera store in Yuma, and they have a darkroom section. So we picked up some chems and paper and built a temporary but workable darkroom out of our 3rd bedroom and laundry room. No 120 film at the local store yet and I didn't feel like shooing 35mm so I grabbed a roll of Ilford FP4+ that expired 10 years ago and had been sitting in the bottom of a box since then. Exposed in a plastic Lubitel 166 and developed for 8 minutes in ID-11 it actually came out halfway decent. My cheap scanner added a lot of dust and reflections though so these scans don't do the original prints justice at all. If I get some good prints eventually I may dust off my good scanner.
